MILANO COFFEE CO. is San Diego's only"Five Star Coffee Shop." We offer our incredible line up of specialty coffee drinks made with only the finest ingredients as well as a full food and catering menu. Our cafe is stylish and contemporary as well as comfortable and warm. We have genuinely authentic Italian espresso, our froth is silky and smooth, and every drink is made just the way you like it. We feature local artists' paintings for purchase, and are currently assembling an entire entertainment calendar, complete with concerts, open mics, amateur comedy hours, movie showings, and soon, our "Courtyard Services" which will bring our patrons free samples and advice from financial advisors, dog trainers, estate planners, real estate representatives, massage therapists, and the list goes on. We provide a great study environment during the week and provide free wireless internet access to our customers.
How Milano Coffee Co. Came About.
MILANO COFFEE CO. is the result of an inspirational trip to Italy taken by the owner, Christopher Dilling. Being an avid coffee drinker, he was especially taken aback by not only the quality of the beverages, but the atmosphere and genuine hospitality in which they were served. Much of the trip was spent visiting and revisiting the same cafes, learning the trade and taking note of exactly what it was that made the experience so enjoyable.
November 9, 2004.
On November 9, 2004 the first MILANO barista & deli location opened for business. We serve authentic Italian coffee drinks, as well as an incredible line up of Croissant, Panini, and Submarine sandwiches as well as soups and salads in an environment much like the ones experienced in Italy. What Makes Our Coffee So Much Better?
As many of the larger chains have evolved, they have lost the personality and art of coffee. This started with the migration from semi automatic espresso machines. What does that mean to you? Well it means that your barista has less control of the grind, dose, tamp pressure, and length of an espresso shot. Essentially, the result is a shallow, bitter, creama-less shot of espresso (the basis of all specialty drinks). Not only have we corrected this problem by using a semi-automatic espresso machine, but our espresso bean is an authentic Italian blend with a much broader flavor profile, resulting in a less bitter taste, and a very thick layer of creama (the sweetness of the shot).
